Foodtech Atlantic, and monitoring on the floor

Dave presented at Foodtech Atlantic in Digby on using industrial monitoring to understand resource use and reduce process waste.

We presented at Foodtech Atlantic on 18 April 2024 at Digby Pines Resort in Nova Scotia. Dave’s talk, “Leveraging Industrial IoT for Waste Reduction in the Food & Beverage Industry”, was part of the “Waste Reduction & Sustainable Packaging” segment.

Our focus was the connection between industrial monitoring and the work of a food processing facility. Resource use becomes easier to investigate when the team can see where it occurs and follow how it changes during operation.

For us, the measurement needs to serve a process question. A reading should help a team understand its baseline, identify something that needs attention or review the effect of an adjustment. Those are useful starting points for a conversation about reducing waste in processing.

The Foodtech Atlantic event listing gives the wider programme context. The event brought innovation and sustainability into the same discussion as practical work in the food and beverage industry.
